The Buganda Kingdom’s origins trace back to the 14th century, evolving from a collection of clans into a powerful state. Oral traditions suggest the first Kabaka, Kintu, arrived from the east, possibly near Mount Elgon, and unified various clans. Another tradition credits Kato Kimera, believed to be the twin brother of Bunyoro’s founder, as the kingdom’s founder. Buganda initially consisted of the counties of Busiro, Mawokota, and Kyaddondo, expanding through conquest and alliances
